SLiRP has been already installed in "/home/www.seismology/liu/bin/slirp".
What you can and can't do with SLiRP:
can:
many things, such as telnet, ftp and remote X-applications. Specifically,
I have run netscape at my home. I can use graphics software (X-applications)
from my office to plot the data on my home computer screen. You may hate
vi editor. Well, you can run X-emacs editor directly from your office computer
which is more powerful than your cheap PC and show on your home computer screen.
Your friend may want to ftp (or telnet) to your home computer. Fine. The
only strange thing is, your ftp address is your hostname address plus a port
number.
can't:
all r-commands, such as rsh. You cannot receive any E-mail directly
at your home although you can send your E-mail.
