Note: No mid-term or final exams. Each student is required to write a 10-15 pages term paper at the end of the semester. A research-oriented paper is strongly recommended (not required) for graduate students.

Problem Sets

Problem sets are due at the beginning of class on the date due. Extensions for homework will be very rare; late homework will receive a 10% penalty for the first day, 20% for two days, etc., and will receive no credit after five days. In particular, midterms or high workloads from other courses will not be adequate grounds for an extension. You are strongly encouraged to come and talk to us about it. You are also encouraged to work together with other students, although each student must hand in their own work.
