Yu J. Gu
Postdoctoral Fellow in Seismology
I began graduate studies at Harvard prior to 1995 and received my PhD in 2001. My dissertation includes the study of mantle shear velocity using "x-ray" tomography, global depth variations of the 410- and 660-km discontinuities, and investigated the potential existence of mantle discontinuities near 220 and 520 km. My coauthors and I also proposed a novel method to jointly invert for the velocity structure and topography of mantle discontinuities. After postodoctoral
training at Columbia university as a Lamont-Doherty fellow.
I have joined the Physics Department at University
of Alberta .
